FUR & FELL STUDIO

your furry companions, beautifully captured.

A Special Kind of Love

At Fur & Fell Studio, I believe that pets deserve the same care and intention that goes into any human portrait - the kind you frame on your wall and pass down. The kind that, years from now, will bring you straight back to the weight of them on your lap, the warmth of their presence, the particular way they looked at you... especially when asking for treats.

Why Fur & Fell?

Well, those living in Germany, where we are based, may know that Fur & Fell mean the same thing in English and Germany respectively. Not only do I love an aliteration, I thought this name was fitting for my service since I can speak German or English with my clients.

I started Fur & Fell to have a dedicated photography service offering for pets and their owners. As a photographer and Dog Mom, I understand the value of beautiful keepsakes for pets and want to offer other pet parents the same type of sessions I have with my own dog.

I've always been an animal lover - they've been my companions, my comfort, and if I'm honest, some of my favorite subjects to photograph.

There's something special that happens in the quiet moment when an animal looks directly into the lens. Whether it's the dignified stillness of a cat or the barely-contained enthusiasm of a dog who has just discovered there are treats involved, I'm here to capture who your animal actually is.

But there's another truth about pet photography that doesn't get talked about enough: our time with them is short. Dogs and cats move through their lives faster than we do, and we often don't realize how quickly a chapter has passed until it already has. A portrait made today of the dog who still tears around the garden like a puppy, or the cat who has claimed your favorite armchair as her own, is something to be treasured far beyond this moment in time.

I aim for every session at Fur & Fell is unhurried, relaxed, and built around your pet — not the other way around.

Hi, my name is Kara, this is Tofu.

We are the human-dog duo behind Fur & Fell Studio.

I started Fur & Fell Studio as a part of my photography business - Kara Elizabeth Photography - to have a dedicated space for pets & their owners.

I have always had a camera in my hand since I was a kid - and of course my childhood pets were always frequent models. I finally turned my life-long hobby into a business in 2023 and quit corporate to take it full time in 2025.

I feel most at-ease and creative with my camera in hand and love to capture real emotions and love stories of all kinds - especially those between a human and pet.

How Does It Work?

STEP 01

Get in Touch

Send me a message through the contact form or via email. Tell me a little about your pet — their name, their personality, whether they're treat-motivated (very useful to know), and what you're hoping to walk away with. I'll come back to you within 48 hours to chat through the details and find a date that works.

STEP 02

Pre-Session Prep

Once we've booked our session, I'll send you a guide with everything you need to know - what to bring, how to prepare, etc.

STEP 03

The Photoshoot

Time for the fun part! Sessions typically last around 2 hours, but there is no rush and we'll work at your pet's pace.

I let them take the time they need to get settled, we take plenty of breaks, and ensure we have a relaxed atmosphere for everyone.

STEP 04

Delivery

Your final digital images are delivered via a private download link within two week of your selection. High resolution, fully edited, and ready to print or share. Prints and wall art are ordered through the studio and delivered directly to you.

STEP 05

Image Selection

Within three weeks of your session, you'll receive a private online gallery of your edited images. Take your time going through them and when you're ready, you'll choose the images you'd like to keep as part of your digital collection, and we can discuss any print or wall art options that feel right for your space.

FAQ

my dog barely sits still ever, can you still work with them?

Almost certainly yes. Most dogs I work with are not exactly cooperative at the start of a session - there is a new environment and smells and lots to explore - and that's completely normal. I will give you some practice tips to do before the session to help your dog adjust. During the session, I work slowly, I use a lot of treats, and I never rush. Give us the time, and we'll get there.

can i be in the photos with my pet?

Absolutely — and I'd encourage it. Some of my favorite work involves the people who love the animals. You don't need to be comfortable in front of a camera; I'll guide you through the whole thing. The session fee is the same regardless of whether it's pets-only or includes people.

can you really actually photograph cats?

Cats are a special case, and I won't pretend otherwise. Studio sessions for cats work best when they're given plenty of time to explore and settle on their own terms. I'd recommend getting in touch before booking so we can have a proper chat about your specific cat - some are genuinely relaxed in new environments, and some are not. I'll always be honest with you about whether a session is likely to go well.

How should I prepare my pet for the session?

I'll send you a full preparation guide when you book, but the basics are: bring their favorite treats (the smellier the better, honestly), make sure they've had a good walk or play session before arriving so they're a little calmer, and bring anything that helps them feel comfortable — a favorite toy, a familiar blanket. For dogs, a recent groom is a nice touch but absolutely not required.

How long will it take to receive my photos?

You'll receive your full edited gallery within three weeks of your session. Once you've made your selection, final delivery of your chosen images takes approximately one week.

do you photograph animals other than dogs and cats?

Dogs and cats are my primary focus, but I'm always open to a conversation. Get in touch and tell me about your pet — I'll let you know honestly whether a studio session is something I can accommodate.

do all session take place in the studio? or can they be outside? or at my home?

Most sessions do take place in the studio; however, it is possible to have an outdoor session or a session in your home to show your pet in their natural environment. In most cases, I do recommend the studio as it is a more controlled environment, but we will discuss this in our consultation call.

what if my pet has an accident in the studio?

It happens — genuinely no problem at all. The studio is fully equipped for it. Please don't worry or feel embarrassed. We'll clean up and carry on.
